Why We Like It

This classic hotel has been updated with modern decor and furnishings for a restful slumber. It's in a quiet offbeat location away from crowds of tourists, but close enough to the center that you can still walk to many main attractions. The air here is fresher being just across Rome's best park and gardens. And the property has plenty of greenery of its own. If you know you want to mix your sightseeing with a fair amount of spa and pool time, this historic hotel is a great option.

Fodor's Expert Review

Set atop the Villa Borghese in Parioli (a bit out of the centro storico for serious sightseers) this classic hotel is set up like an urban resort with a wonderful spa and huge pool set among its own beautiful gardens. The hotel's classical palatial decor fits in perfectly with this upscale neighborhood. Yet rooms feature modern comforts and are a good size, many including their own balcony. It's the perfect hotel if you're looking for a relaxed stay away from noise and traffic.

Tip With the giant pool and proximity to Villa Borghese, it's a great option for families. They often run family specials offering free milk and cookies and tickets to Bioparco di Roma.

And many rooms feature a large balcony or terrace with outdoor seating. Colors in each room are coordinated in a scarlet, silver and cream or gold and cream decor. Every room features a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, safe, minibar and international power outlets. Suites are enormous and feel like their own private villas.

Bathroom

Marble or tiled bathrooms are spacious and include a full line of luxe toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Old wall hairdryers need an upgrade. Certain suites feature whirlpool tubs with views of the park.

Lobby

The entry to the building is a massive teal stained-glass artwork over two marble lions that guard the revolving door. The huge lobby feels like a grand palazzo living room. With its red and green velvet sofas, oversized antique vases, and golden candelabras throughout, you can enjoy the enormous seating area anytime you need a break.

Pool

The huge outdoor pool is suitable for doing laps or just for taking a dip to get out of the heat. It's lined all around with sun beds and umbrellas, making it a popular summer hangout.

Spa

A sparkling indoor pool is surrounded by decadent chaise lounges and a full relaxation area of huge leather armchairs.
