Situated on a side street around the corner from one of Rome's most impressive piazzas, this friendly hotel has staff that go out of their way to make you feel at home, public spaces cleverly styled with contemporary art pieces, and wood fixtures and furnishings accentuated by warm colors and handsome fabrics in the guest rooms. The intimate lounges and charming bar—very cozy and attractive with its floral fabric and wood bar—follow the same scheme, as does the breakfast room, where a generous American breakfast buffet is laid out in the morning, complete with complimentary newspapers. Special programs catering to different groups include the \"Family Perfect\" room, which comes with a PlayStation, a DVD player with Disney movies, and wooden blocks for small children to play with.
VIP Room facilities
Rooms have a tasteful bachelor pad feel to them with taupe and burnt orange stripes on matching wallpaper and curtains. Oak beds have color-coordinating covers and fluffy pillows. Rooms include satellite TV, coffeemaker, safe and minibar. Family rooms can be connected or filled with extra beds, and games are available on request.
Although rooms are soundproofed, being in central Rome, those in the back of the hotel tend to be much quieter.
Beautiful bathrooms have a large shower or bath tub and a great selection of toiletries is offered. Robes and slippers are also available.
The lobby is stylishly done in a marble white and green checkerboard floor with a huge desk at the entrance and an oversized clock. Once you check in you'll find a huge seating area with daily newspapers and red and beige velvet chairs. Bookshelves are covered in glass vases and reference books. Everything is cool and modern and hints at the well-thought out upkeep of the hotel. The front desk is always manned with an incredible staff eager to help out with anything you might need.
An Italian breakfast is offered every morning with homemade Italian tarts and quiches as well as an a great variety of cereals, cheeses and cold cuts.
Centrally located, you'll be easy to walk to most of Rome's ancient sites. The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Repubblica Metro Station, where it's also easy to hail a taxi. And Termini Station is a mere 9-minute walk, for easy train rides in and out of the city.
Head to Ristorante Alessio (6-minute walk) for a proper Roman pizza. Strega (7-minute walk) makes great salads and is big enough that you'll never have to wait.
Brewdog Bar (6-minute drive) is the place to go for Scottish ale. The Drunken Ship (8-minute drive) has a great selection of beers and gets very popular on game nights.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Situated in the Repubblica area of Rome's historic center, the Mascagni Hotel features a contemporary design with luxurious furnishings. A boutique hotel with only 40 rooms, design is well-thought out with comfortable beds and seating. The warm hospitable staff will go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The hotel is in the center of it all, but far enough away from it all to feel like a quiet sanctuary after a busy day. It's a great place to explore from and also relax at the end of the day.
