Fodor's Expert Review

The Hotel Alpi is located in an historic Art Nouveau building where high ceilings with elegant chandeliers, white walls, and marble floors lend it both elegance and warmth, all right around the corner from Termini station. Guest rooms are tastefully decorated, some with antique furniture and others with sleek, contemporary design; fresh flowers are displayed throughout the hotel and on the terrace. There are slightly formal lounges and a cozy bar downstairs; the restaurant serves traditional Mediterranean cuisine.

Getting Around

An airport shuttle to and from the hotel is available upon request. But it's also just a 7-minute walk from Termini, where you can catch a train, metro, or bus anywhere around Rome and beyond. Its central location also makes it walking-distance to many of Rome's famed attractions.

Restaurants

Make a reservation at the intimate Trattoria Monti (18-minute walk) for home-style Italian food like roasted rabbit, suckling pig and casserole dishes. For a lighter dessert go to Grezzo Raw Chocolate (16-minute walk) for homemade cookies, cakes and gelato, all made with decadent homemade chocolate and coconut sugar.

Bars

The Julius Caesar Gurgustium (1-minute walk) is a late-night spot with a huge bar and cocktail menu. Don't be turned off by the over-the-top lighting design. Except on nights when they host events, it's a very laid-back bar to meet up with friends. St. Patrick's Pub (11-minutes) will not disappoint if you're looking for a fresh pint or a game of darts.
