Why We Like It
Newly renovated, this luxury spot puts an emphasis on service and discretion which makes it an ideal place for high-end guests who don’t want to be bothered with tourist throngs. The Clef d’Or Concierges are top-rate and can assist with any needs and the hotel’s amenities, pool, spa, gym, make it a fantastic choice for all around pampering. It’s a bit on the far side of the city center, but a courtesy car or bike rentals can alleviate the distance. Overall, the hotel is all class and style and will make you feel like a visiting dignitary with their attention to all the details.

On the western side of the city center, this glamorous hotel built out of a 19th Century palace is a high-end escape away from the masses of tourists just a few blocks east. Inside is a quiet and classy joint that appeals to privacy-minded travelers who want to experience a mix of old-world Florence with new world amenities.
Tip The hotel is away from the middle of the city center, but they have a courtesy car that can shuttle you around quickly.

Room
The majority of the rooms here have balconies that look over the pool and gardens in the back of the hotel. Parquet floors are standard and the style mixes between classical Florence and modern minimalism. All rooms come with tea/coffee kettles and bottled water while suites are equipped with espresso machines.
Bathroom
Depending on the room style you’ll typically see green marble floors and counters, raised sinks, bidets, towel heaters, and shower/tub combos (though some with separate rain showers). Bath products are by Blaise Mautin.
Lobby
The regal lobby harkens back to the hotel’s 19th Century palace feel with local art by Florentine artists strewn throughout and ample sitting areas with marble floors in a living room-like setting.
Tip Make sure you check out the 5th floor terrace where you can grab a bite, a drink, and soak in views of The Duomo.
Pool
The outdoor, mosaic-tiled pool is open from around May to October (weather depending) and is a lush and private getaway that helps guests unwind after long walks through the city.
Spa
More mosaic tiled can be found in the spa, which features a dry sauna and Turkish bath steam room. If you want a massage, you can order in your room.
Gym
Open 24/7, the medium-sized gym has hardwood floors, Technogym machines, water, and free apples.
Dining
There are multiple dining options here. Gourmet Restaurant (that’s the actual name) is a dinner only spot that specializes in seafood. Da’ Lorenzo, meanwhile, is the hotel’s bistro for lunch and dinner with savory pizzas, pastas, and more in a relaxed and laid back setting.
Drinking
Da’ Lorenzo is also the hotel’s bar with specialty cocktails and an apperitivo that comes with finger food when you buy a drink.

Getting Around
Because the hotel is on the western side of the city center, walking to main attractions is a bit longer than more central hotels, but by no means is it undoable. Florence isn’t that big but if you need a lift, the hotel has a courtesy car at your disposal. Additionally, the hotel has a partnership with Pirelli that offers bicycles with GPS. Finally, the train station is only a few minutes-walk away if you want to get around the country.
Restaurants
Some of the best nearby restaurants are worth the extra walk. Check out Winter Garden by Caino (7-minute walk) inside the St. Regis for Michelin-starred perfection. For a traditional Tuscan lunch spot, head over to Il Profeta (5-minute walk) and chow down on regional delights.
Bars
If you’re in the mood to dance, Space (6-minute walk) is a long-lasting nightclub that has EDM blasting till late. For something more laid back, head over to the Westin Excelsior where on the rooftop is SE-STO (7-minute walk) which has some of the best city views to go along with their vast wine selection.
