Why We Like It

The art collection alone is a reason to visit, but the hotel is so much more than a fancy façade. Inside the hallowed halls of this pristine property is a Michelin-starred restaurant, unbeatable riverside views, an intensely high level of service, and spacious rooms with loads of amenities. The staff here is at your beck and call with a Clef d’Or concierge capable of getting you any experience you desire. Luxurious without pretension, the crown jewel of the Lungarno Collection is worthy of its oft-touted reputation.

Fodor's Expert Review

The flagship hotel of the Lungarno Collection (a group of hotels owned by Ferragamo), Hotel Lungarno is a boat-themed paradise that sits on the south side of the river and spoils its guests with a bevy of personalized services, luxurious accommodations, and incredible dining. This high-end hotspot also boasts a world-class art collection and provides guests with one-of-a-kind experiences that can’t be found anywhere else.

Tip The hotel has first-come-first-serve bicycles that are a fun way to experience the cobble-stoned city.

Room

Blue- and white-striped carpets help evoke the boat theme in the bedrooms which are also adorned with white walls and modern art. All rooms come with tablets that double as city guides, as well as Lavazza coffee makers, Bose Bluetooth speakers, and bottled water. Make sure to request a room with a balcony that overlooks the water – you won’t be disappointed with the views.

Bathroom

Surrounded in beige marble, the luxurious bathrooms come with shower/tub combos, bidets, and Ferragamo-branded bath products – which include eye cream, face cream, and lip balm.

Lobby

The lobby has a living room feel with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the river, and comfy white couches. Take some time to look around as the hotel has over 450 pieces of art with original paintings by Picasso, Cocteau, and more.

Tip The hotel offers art tours for guests. You’ll be blown away by some of the masterpieces that are casually hanging on the walls here.

Spa

There’s no spa, but guests have access to sister hotel Continentale’s facilities which are just across the river. Otherwise, you can request in-room massages at almost any time.

Dining

Don’t leave Hotel Lungarno without dining at Michelin-starred Borgo San Jacopo for lunch or dinner where you’ll be mesmerized by the inventive chef’s takes on Italian cuisine.

Tip The hotel offers cooking classes if you want to learn the art of pasta rolling.

Drinking

The Picteau Lounge Bar in the lobby is surrounded by priceless works of art and is the perfect spot for sunset sips over the river. The portmanteau of Picasso and Cocteau is fitting as their paintings on the wall only enhance the sense of luxury while drinking perfectly mixed concoctions.

Tip If you want to learn about the inventive drinks on the menu, you can take a mixology class with the barman.

Getting Around

The hotel is between the St. Trinity Bridge and the Ponte Vecchio making it easy to traverse to the north side of the river. Florence isn’t that big, and walking to most attractions, bars, restaurants, and shopping is easy. The hotel has its own parking, but you probably won’t want to rent a car here. Take one of their bikes if you want to jet around town quickly.

Restaurants

If Michelin-hunting is your game, check out Trattoria Cammillo (3-minute walk) for traditional Tuscan fare. For some of the best pizza in town, head over to O’Munaciello (7-minute walk) with fluffy crusts and occasional live music.

Bars

Breathtaking views can be found at Golden View Open Bar (5-minute walk) also on the south side of the river. If you cross the Ponte Vecchio, check out rooftop bar La Terrazza (6-minute walk) at sister hotel Continentale.
