Why We Like It

The location is truly ideal if you want to be near the most famous attractions in Florence. And though it can be noisy outside at night, the hotel does a great job of snuffing it out. The history here is half the reason to come, as original ceilings, frescoes, and sculptures line the property. First class all the way, the service is stellar and the staff super friendly. If you don’t mind spending a little extra, than you won’t mind staying at this historic hotspot.

Fodor's Expert Review

The newly renovated Bernini Palace is situated in a 15th Century building and has been acting as a hotel since the 17th Century. With a central location, the building was used as a meeting place for visiting politicians and local senators during Florence’s brief reign as the capital of Italy in the 1800s. Today, the regal space retains its charm with original artwork and a high level of class and comfort that is still fit for dignitaries and the hoi polloi who want to be around them.

Tip The hotel has Clef d’Or concierges – so make use of their expertise and access to the hardest to get into spots in the city.

Room

Rooms are classically Tuscan but with modern amenities. Hardwood floors, fancy chandeliers, and views of the piazza outside are typical. Opt for the Tuscan floor rooms where you’ll be bathed in Renaissance stylings from terra cotta floors to ornate original ceilings.

Tip If you book directly through the hotel's website, you can get 10% off at the restaurant.

Bathroom

In newly renovated rooms, you’ll find marble sinks, showers, and tubs. Trussardi bath products are typical as are towel heaters, bidets, and shaving mirrors.

Lobby

The grande dame of the hotel, the lobby pays homage to the hotel’s famous past with classic furnishings, opulent arched ceilings, and original sculpted faces in the walls depicting famous Florentine’s from the past. The lobby is a great space for a relaxing afternoon or to grab a drink from the back bar and schmooze with friends over a spritz.

Dining

La Chiostrina is the hotel’s intimate restaurant where romantic couples can feast on typical Tuscan fare. Make sure you check out the breakfast room dubbed Sala Parlamento, which features a frescoed ceiling that rivals the Uffizi Gallery.

Tip Breakfast is always included with the price of the room, so make good use of the buffet.

Drinking

The Lounge Bar in the back of the lobby is a great meeting spot for pre-dinner drinks or a light lunch. Bartenders sling up creative cocktails from 10 am-midnight.
