Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni

Via Tornabuoni 1, Florence, Tuscany 50122, Italy

Why We Like It

The history, the location, the views, oh my. Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni is a charming and high-end spot that’s ideal for romantic couples who want to salivate over panoramas of the entire city. This boutique is small, and with that comes great personalized service. The location is truly unique and the vistas from the 13th century tower are unmatched.

Fodor's Expert Review

Housed in a 13th century tower and palace, this riverside boutique has one-of-a-kind views to go along with its history. The former house of many a wealthy Florentine family, today, this small abode still makes its guests feel like home with large rooms and warm hospitality. Just make a point of checking out the roof of the tower as 360-degree views of the city are truly jaw-dropping.

Tip The hotel has a unique location by the river. But it also happens to be on the most chichi shopping street in all of Florence. Mind your wallet.

Room

Every room here is unique, but you’ll typically find parquet floors, river views, and high ceilings. Each room is equipped with a Handy device – a helpful gadget that gives you free Wi-Fi anywhere in the city along with free international phone calls.

Tip If you want to splurge, try booking the Hammam Suite. Inside, you’ll discover your own private spa complete with double-sized Jacuzzi, Turkish bath for two, and a steam room. The views aren’t too shabby either.

Bathroom

Bathrooms come with marble floors, shower/tub combos (some shower only), bidets, and Rerum Natura bath products.

Lobby

There’s not much of a lobby as it’s mostly a check in area. But if you wind your way through the property, you’ll find a common space with a living room, computer, reading room, and a smoking terrace.

Dining

The hotel has a bevy of terraces and this comes into play for both the breakfast area and main hotel restaurant. Guests can dine inside or out at both rooftop spots that feature stunning views of the river on one side and the Duomo on the other. The menus are seasonal and only feature local and fresh ingredients.

Drinking

The rooftop bar is fully stocked and typically starts serving guests around 4pm. If you need a drink before then, the hotel operates on the honor system where you can grab your own booze and simply write down what you took. Don't cheat.
