Why We Like It
You won’t find something like AdAstra anywhere else in Florence. The private garden is truly one-of-a-kind and helps guests feel like they’re staying in a royal family’s backyard. Rooms are spacious and attention to design is a premium. While the breakfast is a little limited, the coffee is fresh and the staff incredibly warm and helpful, so you’ll get over it. Boasting the largest privately-owned garden within a city in all of Europe, AdAstra is a special property with one-of-a-kind vistas. After you pick your jaws up off the floor, you’ll be wowed by the eclectic design that pervades the hotel mixing vintage and antique furnishings with 50s, 60s, and 70s Italian art. A unique bed & breakfast, you won’t find anything else like it in all of Florence.

Room
Spacious accommodations continue the design trends of the hotel with mismatched furnishings, high ceilings, antique dressers, and pop-art on the walls. No two rooms are alike.
Tip Make sure to ask about the Premium room cottages which are hidden back within the garden itself. It’s like your own secret hideaway.
Bathroom
Polished marble floors give way to massive rain showers, double sinks, and CO Bigelow bath products. Almost every room has a clawfoot standalone bathtub (actually outside the bathroom).
Lobby
The lobby doubles as the breakfast area and features more mismatched furniture, bookshelves, and pop-art. The terrace at the back of the room provides endless views of the absolutely stunning garden.
Dining
A breakfast buffet is free for all guests and available from 8-10 am. On warm days, you can eat on the terrace overlooking the gardens. Snacks, coffee, and tea are splayed out during the day for guests to pick at.
Drinking
While there’s no real bar, there is a fridge with beers that works on the honor system. Take a can and leave the money in the piggy bank.
Gardens
The Torrigiani Gardens is a walled complex covering 17-acres in the middle of the city. The garden and building where AdAstra resides are owned by the Torrigiani family and tours of the grounds can be arranged if you ask in advance.

Getting Around
The B&B is on a quiet street a little bit south of the river, but it’s still walkable to every major attraction in the city – just a slightly longer walk. North of the hotel is Porta Romana which has a taxi parking lot if you need to get further afield.
Restaurants
For some of the best pizza in Florence, look no further than O’Munaciello (5-minute walk) – if you’re lucky they’ll have live music when you’re there as well. For Michelin-rated dining in an authentic trattoria, Al Tranvai (3-minute walk) is a can’t miss restaurant.
Bars
Head over to Piazza Santo Spirito around 5-7pm and you’ll find a plaza lined with bars and restaurants with great apperitivo deals. Basically you buy a glass of wine and get lots of free food to go along with it. For a more traditional cocktail experience, stick around the piazza and check out the hidden speakeasy Rasputin (5-minute walk), which has a range of cleverly crafted cocktails.
