Tipping

In some hotels and restaurants, a service charge of around 10%—rising to 15% in plush spots—is added to the bill. If in doubt, ask whether service is included. If there's no service charge, add a minimum of 10% to the total. Taxi drivers or hackney cab drivers, who make the trip for a prearranged sum, don't expect tips. Tip hotel porters at least €1 per suitcase. You don't tip in pubs, but for table service in a bar, a hotel lounge, or a Dublin lounge bar, leave about €1.
