Fodor's Expert Review 101 Hotel
Hverfisgata 10, Reykjavík, Capital Region, Iceland Fodor's Choice
Don't let the 1930s office-block-style facade fool you: 101 Hotel is one of Reykjavík's most stylish accommodations. The five-story, 38-room hotel has been designed by owner Ingibjorg Palmadottir; contemporary works from renowned local artists adorn the walls (the hotel also hosts exhibitions), and the open-plan rooms are generously proportioned and immaculately appointed with big, comfortable beds, American oak floors and—in some—freestanding baths. The restaurant-bar serves great European and Asian food and killer cocktails beneath a dramatic glass ceiling. The cozy lounge and library area boasts leather sofas and an open fire. Massages can be arranged in your room, and in the basement you'll find a small plunge pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna.
