Boat and Ferry Travel

From late April to late September, the most interesting way to get to either Szentendre or Visegrád is by ferry. The Szentendre ferry leaves from a dock off Budapest’s Vigadó Square Tuesday through Sunday at 10 and 2; the journey takes 1½ hours. Return ferries leave Szentendre at 5 and 7 pm, taking just an hour. You can go all the way to Visegrád on the same 10 am ferry from early July to late August, but only on the weekends. The return ferry leaves Visegrád at 3:30 pm. It is a 3½-hour trip up the Danube to Visegrád; round-trip tickets to Visegrád cost 6,000 Ft. More information can be found at www.mahartpassnave.hu.
