South Buda

Compared to the city’s center, the southern reaches are Buda have relatively little to attract the average visitor. Both the imposing hundred-years-old main building of the M?egyetem (the Budapest University of Technology and Economics) and the recently built science campus of the country’s oldest continuously operating Eötvös Loránd University overlook the Danube near Pet?fi Bridge. A few stops further inland, the charming Feneketlen-tó (Bottomless Lake) provides a spot of green nature in this major traffic hub. The new 4th metro line makes some parts of this region more accessible than before, but how this will affect the place’s touristic draw remains to be seen.
