Boat and Ferry

Hellenic Seaways, Nel, Minoan, and other sea lines connect Thessaloniki to Chios, Lesvos, Samos, Heraklion (Crete), Kos, Rhodes, Skiathos, Skopelos, Naxos, Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini. Buy tickets at the Karacharisis Travel and Shipping Agency, Zorpidis Travel Services (Sporades and Cyclades only), Alexander Travel, or another travel agency. You can connect to Piraeus from Kavala, 136 km (85 miles) east of Thessaloniki (confirm schedules with the Kavala Port Authority). In summer, you should reserve ferries a month in advance. The Greek Travel Pages (www.gtp.gr) list ferry schedules online.
