Cruise Travel to Katakolon

Katakolon, the gateway for cruise travelers visiting Ancient Olympia, is a very small port but one that often receives large cruise ships. There are no passenger facilities at the jetty itself, but it is only a five-minute walk into Katakolon town, a small Greek town with a lot of character; most residents still make their living from fishing. Along the waterfront are a few restaurants, as well as shops selling souvenirs to cruise-ship passengers; in town are refreshment stands, telephones, currency exchange offices, and an ATM.

Taxis are available at the dock to meet ships: however, cabs charge an overinflated fixed fare for the journey to Olympia, so it's often better to go on a ship-sponsored excursion or go by train or bus.
