Kamari

Santorini’s most popular beach resort is just that—a long line of hotels and tavernas strung out along a stretch of red-and-black sand on the island’s southeastern coast. Tourism has all but consumed the onetime quieter pursuits of fishing and farming, though many residents still depend on both, and sun lovers descend en masse in July and August. Still, backed by fields, dramatic cliffs, and headlands, Kamari is fairly low-key and a pleasant place to hit the beach.
