Cruise Travel to Kos

The main port is at the edge of the center of Kos Town, next to the imposing Castle of the Knights. It’s convenient to services and bus connections, all within easy walking distance, as are stores, restaurants, and many of the Kos Town sights.

An excellent bus network serves most of the island, putting most resort towns around the island within easy reach of Kos Town by public transportation; as many as six buses a day connect Kos Town in the north and Kefalos in the south, for example, and the trip takes about an hour and costs €4.80. The same trip by taxi, readily available at the port, costs about €50 each way. If you want to venture that far, you may want to rent a car for €30–€80 a day. A circuit by car would allow you to make stops at the Asklepieion, the ancient healing center; Tigaki and other beaches; and Zia and its neighboring inland villages; with a final stop at Kefalos and Kamari in the south. Depending on how long you spend at each stop, of course, you could easily make a full circuit in a day. If you want to limit your touring to the sights of Kos Town, and maybe an excursion out to the Asklepieion and a dip at a nearby beach, you can rent a bike from any of the vendors around the port, for about €5 a day.
