George is a professional iconographer, and one of a half-dozen employed to professionally paint and restore frescoes in the island's churches. His workshop doubles as a small shop, where he sells his remarkable art, handpainted onto wood with pigment and gold, and runs workshops teaching the skills of the Byzantine fresco painters to visitors. Even if you just stop by (it's best to call ahead if visiting), he's an engaging companion and always thrilled to discuss his work. He also paints commissions.
