Bus

Places close to Athens can be reached with the blue city bus and metro lines. Take the metro (Line 3) to Agia Marina, then switch to bus 876 or 866 for Daphni or Elefsina. Bus A3 goes direct from Syntagma Square to Glyfada, then take either the 117 or 122 from there to Vouliagmeni. The metro (M2) also runs from Athens to nearby Elliniko, from where you can catch the 122 bus to Glyfada or Vouliagmeni. For detailed public transit information, call 11185 or go to www.oasa.gr.

To reach other destinations in Attica, the most efficient mode of travel—if you don't rent a car—is the regional KTEL bus system in combination with taxis. KTEL buses for eastern Attica leave hourly from their main station in downtown Athens (at the corner of Mavromateon and Leoforos Alexandras), calling at Marathon and Sounion. All these fares are inexpensive and schedules can be found by calling KTEL Attikis (21088/08000 ktelattikis.gr)

KTEL Fokidas buses servicing Delphi, Arachova, Osios Loukas, and Galaxidi depart from Terminal B (Liossion) in Athens. To Delphi, departures usually begin at 7:30 am in summer. The journey takes about three hours. Only a couple of buses a day contine on past Delphi to complete the four-hour trip to Galaxidi, usually changing at Itea. For more information on these journeys, call KTEL Fokidas (22650/29900 www.ktel-fokidas.gr). Tickets for these buses are sold only at this terminal.
