With a 100-year history, Vassilenas was once a humble fish tavern in Piraeus that gained cult status among Greece's leading intelligensia and the world's glitterati for its 18-course set menu of small but delectable dishes. Today it has moved on to a new location and a new conceptual direction, but remains true to the authentic value of its dishes. Its modern, beautifully lit interior decor mirrors the unique facade of the nearby Hilton, an iconic ’60s building, and its set menu is now made up of eight courses, from amuse-bouche to dessert, paired with three different wines. Indeed, excellent wine is a strong point at this establishment, as is the quality of the ingredients and the gourmet preparation of the dishes. There is also an à la carte menu.
