Hotel Concorde

Herrnstr. 38–40, Munich, Bavaria, 80539, Germany, Munich, Germany

Why We Like It

Close to all the sights and ccompetently run, the Concorde is a reliable if unremarkable option in the centre of Munich that manages to have the feel of a peaceful retreat despite its location. Be careful with the rates though: you can end up paying through the nose for that enviable location.

Fodor's Expert Review

Although the Concorde is just steps away from the lively and famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus, and only a very quick walk to the rest of Munich's tourist heartland, it has a peaceful location on a side street. The nearest station, Isartor, is a two-minute walk away, which is handy for the airport transfer. The hotel itself is modern and bright, with some nice touches. In short, it delivers the goods, but not quite with a bow tied around them.

You Should Know Avoid the rooms in the basement - 010 in particular - as they are next to the garage, laundry service and cigarette machine, and are accordingly loud and can smell of smoke. The management say they are working on a solution (and it only affects three of 72 rooms).

Room

Standard rooms can feel small, and the curtains are a little old-fashioned, but they are quiet and some have nice courtyard views. The pictures of Munich on the walls add a bit of personality.

Tip We liked the chocolates on the pillow - a cute touch.

Bathroom

The bathrooms, in beige and white, can feel a little small, with soap dispensers, but they are clean and serviceable.

Lobby

The reception staff dish out old-school room keys, which is always a plus in our book (key cards may be practical but they do lack a certain romance). Staff are friendly, and the lobby itself is contemporary and fresh.

Dining

A varied continental breakfast buffet, included in the price, is served in a stylish, mirrored dining room.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

You pay for the location here, and it's worth it: quiet but extremely central, and close to a subway station that takes you straight to the airport, too.

Restaurants

You're spoilt for choice in this neighborhood: try Albarone (3-minute walk) for great Mediterranean food. Or go traditional, but upscale, at Restaurant Pfistermühle (4-minute walk).

Bars

You're so close, it would be rude not to sample the beer at the lively Hofbräuhaus (3-minute walk), a beer hall dating back to the 16th century. Or change it up with some cocktails at Zephyr (14-minute walk).
