Fodor's Expert Review Café des Épices
Between the Old Port and Le Panier, this small, unpretentious restaurant with a large terrace is a popular choice for the kind of fresh, inventive cuisine representative of the best in contemporary bistro cooking. Although the choices are few on the Mediterranean-inspired menu (prix-fixe only), they change daily according to what inspires Chef Arnaud Carton de Grammont at the market. Dishes like John Dory with pomegranate, white carrots, and tarragon-flecked mushrooms, or consommé-glazed foie gras with caramelized pear are hearty enough that dessert is optional. Best not to skip it, though.
