Why We Like It
Though not perfection, this cozy boutique hotel has a uniquely Parisian appeal that you either love or you don't, and Champagne lovers with be tickled pink.
Fodor's Expert Review
There's no denying this hotel has charm. Set on an angled corner in a very Parisian Belle Époque building enhanced with elements imported from a 17th-century chateau, most notably the graceful champagne bar (and breakfast room). Though not everyone's cup of tea, its old-style coziness and Eiffel Tower views are appealing features.
You Should Know Though adorable as all get out, the elevator, panelled with an antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk, is minuscule (and sometimes out of order).

Room
Toile de Joey flounces, Empire-style furnishings and classic prints give rooms a quaint old-fashioned feeling that may not compensate for their small size, though terraces in some rooms are a nice touch. Suites are much roomier and have Nespresso machines (Mariage Frère teas are offered in the lobby all day), and some upper floor suits offer spectacular Eiffel Tower views.
You Should Know Don't expect state-of-the-art amenities here. Though all the creature comforts are yours, and then some, it aims more for charm than cutting-edge conveniences—or even reliable air-conditioning.
Bathroom
Marble baths are clean and vary in size from small to quite ample by Paris standard. You'll find all the modern amenities, including walk-in showers and/or large baths. A few sport skylights or their own tiny balcony.
Lobby
The elegant lobby sports handsome details, like antique wainscoting, bespoke furniture, herringbone floors and original Picasso drawings. Both the lobby and the adjoining bar are charming spots to hang around in.
Tip If you happen to come in winter, the hotel offers a working fireplace to cozy up in front of. A rarity in Paris.
Dining
An à la carte continental breakfast includes fresh fruit and pastry. A limited snack menu is served in the Champagne bar.
Drinking
Cozy Le Dokhan's Champagne bar is quite unique in Paris. Besides its elegant atmosphere—the room was lifted from an authentic 17th-century chateau—it offers 240 different Champagnes to choose from, which include all those you've heard of along with well-chosen small producers and little-known gems. Music and tastings are a nice bonus, plus gourmet bar snacks from Petrossian caviar.
Tip If you're having caviar be sure to ask the sommelier for a Champagne pairing, not all of them work well together.

Just a few minute's walk to three metro stations, serving lines nos. 2, 6, 9.
Restaurants
This isn't your quintessential restaurant neighborhood, but there are some nice ones to be found. Monsieur Bleu, at the Palais de Tokyo is a stylish option for lunch, dinner or a drink, with gorgeous Eiffel Tower views from the sprawling terrace. If you want to get elegant, L'Abeille, at the Shangri-La is the perfect place for a splurge.
Bars
Though there are plenty of cafés to grab a drink, but for a little more atmosphere—at considerably greater expense—the Shangri-La's Bar Botaniste is cozy and elegant and offers a very good cocktails menu.
