Hôtel Keppler

10 Rue Kepler, Paris, 75016, France

Why We Like It

Posh but unpretentious, the Keppler prides itself on service, and on creating the kind of home-away-from-home feeling—it may even be better than home—to keep its large repeat clientele dreamily happy.

Fodor's Expert Review

Like your own classy pied-à-terre, the Keppler—set on a quiet street not far from the Champs-Élysées—combines traditional French and contemporary style for a comfy, lived-in elegance that invites total relaxation. As sophisticated as it is, the hotel and staff are as warm and welcoming as the decor, and the hotel is family friendly too.

Room

It's hard to argue with the rooms' traditional-luxe décor, based on quality materials, plush classic furnishings, pleasing color schemes, and sophisticated modern artworks. But the full experience requires a sitting room, offered in suites only, where you really get a feel for the comfort of these rooms—and the perks (coffee machines, higher quality bath products). All the rooms are quiet, whether courtyard or street facing, though on lower floors we recommend a street view for the light.

Tip Classic and standard are quite small. If you can manage the extra, even the lower category suites are worth it for the additional space. Spacious terraces—some with Eiffel Tower views—in the deluxe suites and above, are icing on the cake.

Bathroom

Large marble baths resemble those of a luxury hotel, with lighted magnifying mirrors, quality fixtures, ample baths and/or showers, bathrobes and slippers.

You Should Know Hermès products are only for higher category rooms.

Lobby

Everything about the plummy lobby-lounge invites loafing, and guests are encouraged to avail themselves of the plush sofas for enjoying a glass of champagne or a cup of tea and a newspaper. The central fireplace is lovely in winter.

Dining

A generous high-quality buffet breakfast, with à la carte choices (omelettes to order, etc.), is available in the dining room or in-room. There is no restaurant, but the room service menu offers gourmet snacks and small meals from a nearby restaurant.

Drinking

Tucked away in the corner of the lounge, a small bar offers a range of wines, Champagne, and spirits to enjoy in your room or the lounge.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

7-minute walk to the George V metro station.

This is an ideal area if you want to be close but not too close to the Champs-Élysées, while still convenient to transport, culture, and shopping. Set on a relatively peaceful upscale street near the Golden Triangle, home to some of the city's most glamorous shopping, you're within walking distance of a wealth of Paris's great museums, including the exquisite Musée Guimet for Asian art, the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, the Palais de Tokyo and Palais Galliera (fashion museum) and the new Musée Yves Saint-Laurent.

Restaurants

Some of Paris's greatest gastronomic restaurants—mostly in other hotels—are an easy walk away, including Le George, at the Four Seasons George V, La Scène, at Prince des Galles, Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athénée, and their wonderful Art Deco bistro Le Relais Plaza, with its popular Wednesday jazz nights, Epicure at Le Bristol, and Ledoyen, Paris's oldest and arguably most romantic restaurant (Napoléon met Josephine there), to name a few, (all within a 5-15-minute walk). If these exceed your splurge fund, three-star chef Eric Frechon of Le Bristol designed the menu at both Le Drugstore, at nearby Drugstore Publicis and Mini Palais, housed in the Grand Palais, where all-day and late-night hours and outdoor terrace make them neighborhood favorites (5 and 15 minutes by foot respectively).

Bars

If it's a high-end cocktail you're after, all of the palace hotels mentioned in restaurants offer elegant bars, most with weekend DJs, but we particularly like La Scène, at Prince des Galles, and the Bar at La Réserve (a 10- and 15-minute walk respectively). Both Le Drugstore and Mini Palais offer a fabulous bar scene (Mini Palais' terrace is open even in cooler temps) that won't set you back 25 euros a pop (5 and 15 minutes by foot respectively).
