A to-die-for location, nice terraces, and one of the best rooftop views in Paris puts it in a Holiday Inn league of its own. If luxury isn't your raison d'être for being in Paris, this is a handy, comfortable and friendly place to lay your head.

This is not your usual no-frills Holiday Inn. Though the décor may not inspire raves and the prices are a bit higher than the standard budget hotel, an unbeatable location, plenty of in-room comforts and million-dollar views push it from fair-to-middling to not-bad-at-all. Especially if you have kids in tow.
Tip Parents alert! Up to four kids stay free in your room, making that upgrade totally worthwhile!

Room
The rooms' pleasantly modern decor, though a bit tired, will not offend anyone and coffee and tea are included. If your budget will handle it, you won't regret upgrading to a suite or Executive suite with an Eiffel Tower view.
Tip If you're paying extra for an Executive Queen room, be sure get one with a terrace on a higher floor for truly stupendous views that include the Eiffel Tower.
Bathroom
Up-to-date bathrooms offer all the standard amenities. Plenty of hot water and good pressure make up for a small size and muddled layout.
Lobby
A small but comfortable lobby lounge and outdoor terrace are perfect for sipping a drink from the lobby bar in the colder months when the upstairs bar is closed, or for a Starbucks coffee, also in the lobby.
Dining
A plentiful buffet breakfast offers hot and cold choices, including all the usual suspects, plus eggs, sausage, crêpes, croissants, etc., served in the hotel restaurant, which also offers snacks.
Tip Coffee is provided, but if you can't make due without your latte, there's a Starbucks in the lobby.
Drinking
The crowning glory of this hotel is its bar. Though the cocktails and wine list are pretty standard issue, the view is stupendous. On the 9th floor, it's just high enough to look over the rooftops of Saint-Germain but not too high that you feel out of it. With Paris at your fingertips, who cares if the syrups aren't house made?
You Should Know The bar is closed in winter, so if you're coming for the views, book in warm weather.

Getting Around
A few minutes from Saint-Michel metro-RER stop, where you can get the RER direct to both airports and the no. 4 metro line. Also close to no. 10, which takes you directly to the Bon Marché! You could hardly get more central without being on one of the islands in the Seine. Spanning the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, pretty much everything's within arm's reach—restaurants, bars, shopping, nightlife, and sites.
Restaurants
Where to begin... we love Semilla (6-minute walk), a hopping bistro, and the adjacent Freddy's Wine Bar. Le Comptoir de Relais (4-minute walk), at Odéon, is beloved by Parisians (get there squarely at noon for lunch), and for something a bit fancier, Ze Kitchen Galerie (5-minute walk)is an absolute favorite.
Bars
The Prescription Cocktail Club (6-minute walk) was one of the city's pioneering lounges and ultra-chic Tiger (9-minute walk) is the neighborhood's newest.
