Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Seurahuone
Kaivokatu 12, Helsinki, Uusimaa, 00100, Finland
Built in 1913, this Viennese-style town-house hotel across from the train station has a loyal clientele won over by its ageless charm and cosmopolitan interiors. A patina of well-worn elegance pervades all areas, from the grand main stairway and the chandeliered restaurant serving Finnish cuisine to the ornate, skylighted pub. Rooms come in many styles, from traditionally furnished with brass beds and high ceilings in the old section, to the newer rooms with a sleek, modern design. Standard rooms have slightly larger bathrooms than most "Club" rooms, though their bedrooms are smaller.
PROS
- regal decor
- dead-center locale
CONS
- small bathrooms
- one old-fashioned elevator
