There will be a 600% increase over last summer.
Europe is back in business. After two years of will they-won’t they, European destinations have opened their doors fully to Americans and restrictions are fast disappearing. So much so that travel insurance company Allianz Partners predicts a 600% increase in travel to Europe over last year.
The company analyzed 40,000 itineraries between Memorial Day and Labor Day for trip lengths between five and eight days. Their Top 10 Summer European Destinations review gives an indication of where Americans are heading this summer and they also have data to suggest travel dates and length of trips. According to their analysis, 75% of travelers are flying across the pond for seven days and 11% will be in Europe for eight days. May 27, the Friday before Memorial Day, is the most popular travel day.
The methodology is explained as, “The data of U.S. travelers’ 2022 Summer travel plans was gathered by analyzing the number of travelers that went through the online booking process of airfare and package paths for partners offering Allianz Global Assistance travel to generate itineraries for roundtrip flights from U.S. airports during the Summer season (5/27/2022 to 9/6/2022) for trips between 5-8 days in length.”
