Porlock
Modern British
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Occupying a 200-year-old former pub on Porlock Weir's seafront, this restaurant resembles a cross between an eccentric gentleman's club and a museum, thanks to its dark walls, sumptuous decor, and eclectic array of quirky curiosities that fill every corner, from Renaissance paintings to ornate chess sets. The food on offer, however, is more conventional in style, with a wide-ranging menu that concentrates on classic British dishes with a local flavor. Options include game, Exmoor lamb, and seafood. Burgers are also available, and pizzas are served in the summer months. Try a glass of the owner's gin before or after your meal.
