Dorset Coast Path. This 95-mile path—a section of the 630-mile-long South West Coast Path National Trail—runs east from Lyme Regis to Old Harry Rocks near Studland, bypassing Weymouth and taking in the quiet bays, shingle beaches, and low chalk cliffs of the coast. Some highlights are Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast; the Swannery at Abbotsbury; Chesil Beach; Durdle Door; and Lulworth Cove (between Weymouth and Corfe Castle). Villages and isolated pubs dot the route, as do many rural B&Bs. Lyme Regis, Dorset. 01752/896237; www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk.
