7 Best Nightlife in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Heart of England, England

Digbeth Dining Club

Hockley Fodor's choice

If you want to know where locals come to hang, this is it. Held every Thursday through Sunday, it’s a collection of street food stalls—largely from homegrown cooks—and bars, all with buzzy, fun atmospheres. There’s a heady mix of music, too, and the occasional market. Originally held in the neighborhood of Digbeth (hence the name), it relocated to a former printing work in Hockley in 2021 and its organizers host similar events across the Midlands, including pop-ups everywhere from Warwick Castle to Coventry. It's about a mile from the Jewellery Quarter—get off at the Jewellery Quarter train station and walk 10 minutes.

Cox's Yard

If you're all Shakespeared-out and fancy something a little music then this could be the perfect antidote. In a trendy riverside setting, a short hop from the main attractions, it does attract tourists during the day but has more of a local vibe in the evenings, particularly on Saturday nights when there is live music from 9:30 pm. When it comes to food, the onus is on American classics (burgers, ribs and the like), but you can still get some good-old English craft beers, ales, and cider.

Oddfellows Chester

This boutique hotel with quirky rooms is also a lively place to spend the evening, with its funky Victorian walled garden serving fun cocktails.

Old Joint Stock

City Centre

The spacious and high-domed Old Joint Stock serves good ales and pies in an old bank. There’s a theater attached, with a steady stream of good plays and comedy gigs.

The Fighting Cocks

Moseley

This handsome, trendy pub in the southern suburb of Moseley is full of polished wood tables, colorful cushions, and stained-glass windows. The beer selection is huge, and the high-class pub food is delicious. This place gets rammed to the rafters for the traditional "roasts"—beef, pork, lamb, chicken, or nut—on Sunday at lunchtime.
