Why We Like It

The London Marriot Park Lane is all about the understated luxury. While we find the prices a little high—even considering its location on the most expensive square on the Monopoly board—the hotel does have a glorious pool and great light-filled rooms to back itself with. The location is great if you’re all about fine dining, hotel bars and high-end shopping.

Fodor's Expert Review

While a hotel from the Marriot chain might not stir too much excitement for some, the London Marriot Park Lane is in a luxury class of its own. Quick to subdue any fears of whether it fits in on a famous Mayfair street crammed with Grand Dames, the hotel more than holds its own when compared with the best of the Park Lane hotel crowd. While sat on a very busy road, the soothing color palette, elegant furnishings and serene indoor pool set the scene for rest and relaxation.

Room

Available in three sizes and identically designed, the sweet pale pinks, blues and cream colorways set a whimsy and regal tone in the rooms. Dressed in contemporary art, the modern rooms are bathed in natural light from large windows.

Tip Grand Hyde Park views are the goal here, so opt for a Park Lane facing room if possible.

Bathroom

Styled head to toe in white and grey marble, the bathrooms deliver with a genuinely stunning space. The rooms are spacious and feature deluxe walk-in showers.

Lobby

Not a place to hang out and shoot the breeze, the lobby here is reminiscent of a regal country club and though guests might be impressed by the array of armchairs, marble floors and ostentatious chandeliers, this is an area in which to wait rather than mingle.

Pool

A Mayfair rarity, the pool at the London Marriot Park Lane is one of the hotel’s secret weapons. The cool, subterranean pool is surrounded by marble pillars and sun loungers. At 12.5 meters its more than large enough for working on your form.

Gym

The Club fitness suite comes equipped with a range of cardiovascular machines and a variety of free weights.

You Should Know Not quite a bona fide spa, the Club does offer massage treatments by appointment.

Dining

The standalone restaurant, Lanes of London, faces onto Park Lane with its own entrance and offers guests a menu of British classics in a stylish, masculine space.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

One joy of staying on Park Lane—aside from the status of staying on Park Lane—is the convenience of hailing a cab. Alternatively, Marble Arch and Hyde Park Underground Stations are close by for trips into the city. Unless you’re embarking on a morning march around Hyde Park (which you should definitely consider) or heading for the high-end shops of Bond Street via Oxford Street, this isn’t an area geared towards getting around on foot, with most sights a short taxi ride away.

Restaurants

You’re on Park Lane so it makes sense to sample the fine selection of hotel restaurants near to one of London’s most famous streets. Eat Japanese Peruvian fusion at Nobu (18-minute walk) for an experience you won’t forget in a hurry (and neither will your wallet). Or, keep it simple at Wolfgang Puck’s Cut at 45 Park Lane (10-minute walk), a traditional American steakhouse with some of the finest cuts around.

Bars

There is an embarrassment of hotel bars along Park Lane but two of our favorites include The Bar (9-minute walk) at the Dorchester, for its vintage spirits and old-time atmosphere, and the American Bar at the Beaumont (7-minute walk) for that nostalgic art deco glamour.
