Why We Like It

One of the main draws of London is its history and nowhere is that more evident than in the charm of its ancient buildings. To get to stay in one of those buildings is a huge treat — just don't blame us if it makes future hotels feel a little humdrum. We love the freedom of owning the space of an entire home and the local charm of the locations that the Landmark Trust properties.

Room

Guests often have the full run of the house, which means everything from the bedrooms to the drawing room is theirs alone. Expect classic upholstery, heavy curtains and a country house charm to go with the company's historic traditions. Some beds are small but just think of it as adding to the authentic charm of the property.

Tip The house on Princelet Street is located in the heart of Spitalfields, a neighborhood where you'll find many of the surrounding streets are as richly evocative as the property itself.

Bathroom

The larger apartment on Princelet Street comes with bath and walk-in shower, while the two properties on Cloth Fair make do with a grand bath/shower combination.

Dining

Residences include kitchens so if you've ever dreamed of donning an apron while on vacation and whipping up your very own Georgian feast, then this is the place to do it.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Each located in one of London's most impressive historic neighborhoods, you can expect to find cobbled streets, traditional sreet lamps and handsome grey brick houses in the surrounding vicinity so make sure to explore on foot if you fancy the feeling of transporting yourself back in time by the odd hundred years. Both Spitalfields and Smithfield are served by Underground Stations, with Aldgate East and Farringdon respectively, providing the most convenient access to the Tube.

Restaurants

When you're looking for tradition, look no further than the humble roast dinner. The Old Red Cow is master purveyor of the Sunday lunch and has a fine selection of ales too. Alternatively, jump into the hear and now and leave the historic stylings behind with a trip to the Ned, a luxury hotel whose entire ground floor is filled with eateries to suit all tastes.

Bars

The reason the Jerusalem Tavern appears to be older than the buildings of Spitalfields and Smithfield put together is because of a loving restoration designed to recreate the interior of a pub of yore. The result is spectacular and the pub wouldn't be blowing its own trumpet to call itself one of the best boozers in London. In terms of more refined tipples, take to Callooh Callay, an eccentric, experimental cocktail bar that's almost always bookings only.
