Fodor's Expert Review The Frying Castle
There's nothing fancy about this authentic local "chippie" that's a five-minute walk from the Colchester Castle Museum, but who wants frills when it comes to fish-and-chips? Locals flock here for the crisp, piping-hot chips and fresh-battered fish. There are also a few other diner-style choices, such as burgers, ribs, filled jacket potatoes, and omelets. The dining room is basic and pleasant enough, but for the full traditional experience, ask for it to "take away."
