Fodor's Expert Review Chavenage

Tall gate piers and spreading trees frame the family-owned Chavenage, a gray Cotswold-stone Elizabethan manor house. The tour includes a room with fine tapestries, where Cromwell lodged during the Civil War, and a main hall with minstrels' gallery and spy holes. The house is 2 miles northwest of Tetbury. It has recently been used as a filming location for the popular television show Poldark.
