Fodor's Expert Review The Queens Hotel
The Promenade, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL50 1NN, England
Centrally located, the Queens Hotel is the most luxurious boutique hotel in Cheltenham, occupying a grand 18th-century house that has been lovingly converted and updated while retaining many of its period features. Rooms are tastefully decorated and calming, with fluffy bath robes and bath products from British brand 100 Acres. Standard rooms are remarkably good value, but If you are ready to splurge, book one of the Renascence Suites with sky-high ceilings, four-poster beds, and Bose sound systems. All guests have access to the hotel's Summer Garden, which enables al fresco dining. The restaurant serves perfectly crafted British dishes with an international flair: look out for dishes such as heritage tomato, beetroot, and asparagus salad and a tempura-battered cod fillet that serves as the fanciest and tastiest fish and chips around. The hotel's afternoon tea (£25) is also an excellent choice.
