Tipping

The egalitarian Danes don't expect to be tipped. That said, most people do tip to acknowledge excellent service, and those who receive tips appreciate them. Service is included in hotel bills. Many tourist restaurants have started adding a gratuity to bills; always check to see if it's been included. For taxis, if the driver is extremely friendly or helpful, a token tip is fine. Hotel porters expect about DKr 5 per bag.
