If you walk east on Østre Stationsvej to Thomas B. Thriges Gade and Hans Jensens Stræde, you'll come to the Hans Christian Andersen's Birthplace. The house clearly depicts the poverty the author-to-be was born into, though it now sits in an idyllic location amid half-timbered houses and cobbled streets. Ticket price includes one-day admission to five Hans Christian Andersen attractions.
