Cruise Travel

The city's main cruise port at Langelinie Pier is one of the best in Europe. Although it's a 10-minute drive or 30-minute walk from the downtown core, the port is within walking distance of the Little Mermaid and the attractions of the seafront. Taxis wait outside the cruise terminal. The on-site Copenhagen Cruise Information Center is run by the city tourist office, and there is a selection of shops housed in the renovated old wharf warehouses selling typical souvenirs.

Some ships dock at the Freeport Terminal, which is a further 30 minutes on foot from the downtown core (i.e., a full hour's walk from the center). Taxis wait outside the terminal, and the cost is around DKr 125 for the trip into town. A small number of ships (primarily smaller vessels) dock at the quayside at Nordre Toldbod, which sits beside the Little Mermaid and is a 10-minute walk from the city center; however, there are no passenger facilities here.

City Bikes is a citywide project offering electric bikes for rent. There’s a City Bike rack at Langelinie Pier, so you can pick up a bike here and cycle along the waterfront to the center or take a bike from a rack in the center to cycle back to the ship at the end of your day. The bikes come with a vandal-proof touchscreen tablet for navigation and cost DKr 25 per hour.

A water-taxi service to the city center leaves from the end of Langelinie Pier hourly. The boat stops at various parts of the city, and you can hop on and hop off as you wish. A one-day ticket costs DKr 40. A taxi direct to downtown (10 to 15 minutes) costs around DKr 70–DKr 90 from Langelinie.

There is a dedicated cruise lounge at the Illum department store on Strøget in the city center, where you can wait for transfers, leave purchases for later collection, have a free coffee, or rest during your day ashore.
