Why We Like It
With a great location and a fair stab at individual decoration, plus a good breakfast, the Perla might not be to everyone's taste on the interiors front but it's a reasonable option in the middle of Old Town.

Right at the heart of the action in Old Town, this can mean that things get a bit noisy, but the location is worth it. The yellow, Oriental-theme decoration in the lobby and bar areas is a bit random (but it doesn't entirely continue into the rooms, which have their own, more chilled, modern vibe). The breakfast is good too.
Tip The hotel has one room with full disabled access, which is equipped for wheelchair users (something of a rarity in a city full of twisty staircases and towers). The room can also be connected to an adjacent room where an assistant can stay.

Room
There's a fair range of comfortable rooms, including spaces for single travellers or up to five people. Rooms have flatscreen TVs, air-con and desks, plus an ongoing decorative obsession with oversized pearls (here they are pictured; they also feature in the lobby in 3D) plus a shiny black accent wall and hardwood flooring.
You Should Know Some guests have reported issues with housekeeping--the regularity of sheet changes, or missing items on the coffee and tea trays, for example. The staff will fix it immediately if you ask, but if you expect everything "just so" the first time, this might put you off.
Bathroom
Black tiles and modern amenities, but it's a shame the soap comes in dispensers rather than bottles, which feels a little low-budget.
Lobby
The hotel's exterior isn't particularly inspiring, and the lobby area is quite small, but you are steps away from Prague's most beautiful Old Town streets.
Gym
There's a small gym also in the hotel's signature yellow, and massages can be booked in advance.
Dining
The hotel breakfast is rich and the selection changes daily.
Tip The Czech Republic is not known for its bacon--but there's good stuff on offer at the Perla's breakfast.
Drinking
As often seems to be the case in Prague's more eccentrically decorated hotels, the look works best in the hotel's cafe/bar, which feels luxurious at reasonable prices (for a hotel bar at least). It has something of a '70s golden spaceship feel--sounds weird, but it works.

Getting Around
The location here, on the cusp between Old and New Town, is hard to beat, meaning that almost all of Prague's best sights are within easy walking distance. But helpfully for those who want to explore more off-the-beaten-track sights or head to the airport, for example, the hotel is also very close to Můstek metro station.
Restaurants
U Medvidku (3-minute walk) is a fun old-style Czech beer hall, with good food and a great atmosphere. Cafe Louvre (4-minute walk) has more of an old-school Mitteleuropa cafe-culture ambience, and European classic dishes and pastries on the menu.
Bars
Casino Ambassador (5-minute walk) is one of Prague's best casinos, if gambling is your thing. Otherwise the Gin & Tonic Club (8-minute walk) delivers on its name with the best G&T in Prague, or you can have your traditional Czech beer delivered by train at Výtopna (10-minute walk).
