Fodor's Expert Review The Mozart Prague

Karoliny Světlé 34, 110 00, Czech Republic Fodor's Choice

Situated in a beautiful baroque palace right by the river and Charles Bridge, the pleasingly fancy Mozart can't be matched for authenticity. The 48-room hotel sits right at the edge of the Staré Mĕsto fray. That hum of humanity can seep into the rooms, thanks to the tram and foot traffic along the quay. Still, with springy two-poster beds, decadent chandeliers, and hardwood floors, the rooms are spacious and opulent.

PROS

  • friendly service
  • giant rooms with decadent details, like springy beds and chandeliers
  • fascinating centuries-long history including Mozart being locked in a room here until he wrote six sonatas for the owner

CONS

  • some street noise, very busy as soon as you step out of hotel
  • staff can be disorganized at times
  • breakfast a touch underwhelming
