Why We Like It

Functional and pleasant, the Hotel Anna offers inexpensive rooms with a welcoming family vibe and a good breakfast included in the basic rate.

The location allows for easy exploration of Vinohrady as well as a leafy break for those who find the tourist crush of the center overwhelming, and in any case, trams can scoot you into town quickly.

Fodor's Expert Review

The bright neoclassical façade and art nouveau details have been lovingly restored on this 19th-century building on a quiet residential street in a leafy district. There is free Wi-Fi in the rooms. Staff at the family-run hotel are helpful and friendly.

Tip Vinohrady is a gorgeous district in itself, and much more "real" Prague than Old Town (actual Czechs live here, for example!). A weekend afternoon wander with no fixed destination in mind will reveal the area's architectural joys and many hidden cafes and bars.

Room

Rooms feature simple wooden furniture and chic black-and-white photos of Prague. Suites on the top floors offer a nice view of the historic district.

You Should Know There is a nightly fee for air-conditioning, if you use it.

Bathroom

The yellow-tiled bathrooms are a little old-fashioned, but comfortable and well-appointed. Most have showers, some walk-in.

Lobby

The entrance to the Hotel Anna feels pleasingly like going into your friend's house in Vinohrady, through the green front door and up the stone stairs. The reception desk is unremarkable.

You Should Know Reception closes at 11 p.m.--visitors arriving between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. are asked to collect the keys to the hotel from a nearby sister hotel.

Dining

A toothsome breakfast is included in the room rate and served in the hotel's pleasant courtyard conservatory.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Metro stop Náměstí Míru, or the Šumavská tram stop is closer. Náměstí Míru is something of a tram hub, with a number of routes going all over the city.

Restaurants

Bistro Zahrada (9-minute walk) is a cheerful cafe with a peaceful garden. Mozaika (10-minute walk) offers interesting modern cooking and good service, although the burgers are a bit pricey for what you get.

Bars

If you don't think it's sacrilegious to try Belgian beers while in the Czech Republic, Bruxx (6-minute walk) has some good brews on tap and also serves mussels by the kettle. Retro (6-minute walk) is a fun club more frequented by locals than tourists, with a cafe and a big dance floor. Don't let the name trick you: you are more likely to hear contemporary sounds than 70s bangers.
