Fodor's Expert Review Domus Balthasar

Mostecká 5, 118 00, Czech Republic

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This chic retreat is hidden in plain sight on one of the busiest streets in Prague, the road up from the Charles Bridge in Malá Strana. Accordingly, some of the rooms have views of the bridge tower, and others are tucked away in the loft, complete with beams. All have soft pillows and touches of red among the plain but tasteful decor. It's a surprisingly good option for business travelers, considering the touristy location. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and good prices, but if the busy surroundings aren't your scene, there's the quieter Domus Henrici sister hotel a little farther up the hill.

PROS

  • reasonably priced
  • modern decor and good Wi-Fi
  • friendly service from hip staff

CONS

  • very busy street
  • no elevator
  • ceilings in attractive loft rooms too low for anyone over 6 feet
