Fodor's Expert Review Michelangelo Grand Hotel

Vladislavova 1477/20, Prague, Praha, 120 00, Czech Republic

Large, airy, and located inside an attractive, 19th-century building that used to be a municipal meeting hall, this serviceable but still stylish hotel (lots of modern lilac tones) is based in an interesting part of Nové Mĕsto that manages to be both quiet and close to a lot of nightlife. It feels like a working neighborhood rather than a tourist area, which makes it less picturesque but arguably more interesting. Service can be mixed and the rooms, while comfortable, can feel a little chain-like. However, the lounge area in the covered central courtyard, complete with soft furniture and heaps of natural light, is relaxing. Conference facilities are available, and there are connecting rooms for families. Prices here include breakfast.

PROS

  • pleasant lounge area and garden
  • good deals in off-season
  • Nespresso machines and Botanica cosmetics in all rooms

CONS

  • less touristy location may not appeal to everyone
  • spotty service
  • rooms are spacious but not particularly individual
