Main roads between large towns are good. Minor roads can be unsurfaced, narrow, and winding. Rules of the Road: Drive on the left. International traffic signs are used. The maximum speed limit is 100 kph (62 mph) on the motorways; in cities the speed limit is 50 kph (31 mph) unless otherwise posted. Use of front seat belts is compulsory. Children under the age of five are not permitted to sit in the front passenger seat.

Cars may be rented from €50 per day, less during the off-season. Rental agencies are in all major cities as well as at the Larnaca and Paphos airports. Visitors can use a valid International Driver's License or their national driver's license, provided it is valid for the class of vehicle they rent.
