For the best free concerts in the park, street art, outdoor cinemas, and more, keep your eye out for the Zagreb Summer Tour. Highlights include performances by Croatian chamber orchestras, brass bands, and choirs, many of which take place at the music pavilion set amid the lovely plane trees and fountains of Zrinjevac Park. Taking place from June to September, other must-sees are 19th-century-costume contests and displays, an antiques market, a play area and programs for children, pop-up art and design festivals, rides in horse-drawn carriages, and souvenir stands. Maksimir Park, east of the city center, also hosts a number of waltzes, polkas, chansons, and arias from operettas each summer.
