Bus

There's daily international bus service to Rijeka from Italy (Trieste), Slovenia (Ljubljana), Austria (Vienna), and Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, and Stuttgart). You can also reach destinations all over mainland Croatia from Rijeka. Timetable information is available at the Rijeka Bus Terminal. GetByBus, a Croatia-based company, offers instant online booking for many bus operators and lines in Croatia.

Buses travel from Rijeka to all the major towns on the mainland and the islands at least once a day. If you're traveling independently, you'll find that buses to the various islands are roughly scheduled to tie in with ferry services.

Rijeka Bus Terminal. The Rijeka bus terminal is located at the far end of the Korzo pedestrian area toward the train station and across the street from the customs area of the port. Unlike most bus stations it is in fact a small peninsula of five terminals planted in the middle of the road at the entrance of the city coming from Opatija. Like most bus terminals it is a bustling transitional area of travelers throughout the day and night. In the small compact area, travelers can find fast food, luggage storage, restrooms, and money exchange. Žabica 1, Rijeka, Primorsko-Goranska, 51000. 060/888-666; [email protected].
