Galway native Martin McNamara came to Veliko Tarnovo in 2002 and set up shop with his eponymous watering hole. McNamara's is two parts pub, one part hostel common room, offering free Wi-Fi, karaoke nights, and travel advice. The staff and customers are really friendly here, making it a great place for solo travelers to sit down over a pint of Guinness and swap travel stories. There are a dozen beers available, including locally-brewed Boliarka, Stolichno, and Shumensko, as well as cocktails with names like the Crazy Leprechaun. The French fries with cheese pair well with dark and wheat Bulgarian beers.
