Fodor's Expert Review Taverne Falstaff

$ Lower Town Belgian

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Students, seniors, and everyone in-between flock to this century-old huge tavern with an Art Nouveau terrace and legendarily grumpy waiters. The menu devotes itself to straightforward Belgian cuisine throughout the day and into the night, but after 11 pm Cuban music and cocktails take over. (The kitchen is open until 1 am on weekends.) The same group owns the Montecristo Café next door: it's another loud, popular, late-night spot with Latin flavor.
