The Best Hotel Restaurants for Incredible Dining in Vienna
It’s no surprise that one of the world’s most famous chefs, Wolfgang Puck, is Austrian. The country’s cuisine has been updated from beer-soaked schnitzel (which is still a fine option, by the way) to a more sophisticated palate, and the proof is in the plethora of fine dining restaurants that have come on to the scene in the last ten years. Many of them are located in the outstanding hotels. Michelin is running out of stars to give.
The Hotel Ring, Relais & Chateaux
Why it made the list
By daylight, the understated elegance is a bold statement for a Ringstrasse restaurant like “At Eight;” but at night, it dresses up for its guests, donning drapes, linen tablecloths and fine silver for evenings of fine wine and gourmet Austrian cuisine.
Grand Hotel Wien
Why it made the list
After a small nip and tuck, the Old Dame sparkles once again like the star we always knew. We feel now like we are dining in the parlor of a noble at Le Ciel by Toni Mörwald, where the chef creates masterful French dishes with an Austrian accent to please our imperial tastes.
Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna
Why it made the list
A glimpse into the kitchen of the gourmet Edvard will find chef Norman Etzold fussing over the locally-sourced, organic ingredients for his Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The restaurant so impressed the palates of culinary powers, it was awarded a Michelin star a year after opening.
Hotel Lamée
Why it made the list
Step in from the bustle to the Cafe Bloom, where the creations are as innovative as they are delicious. Owner Martin Lenikus insists on organic-only ingredients, and it is here that you can try the wines from his nearby vineyard.
