As in other areas of Austria, having a car makes travel easy, but you can also use the area trains and buses to get around. In Bregenz a Bodensee-Pass includes the Swiss and German trains, as well as the Austrian lake steamers, all at half price, plus area trains, buses, and cable-car lifts; this pass comes in 7- and 15-day variations. Similar passes exist in Tyrol.
