Air Travel

All of Tyrol uses the Innsbruck Flughafen, the airport 3 km (2 miles) west of the capital, which is served by a number of international airlines including Austrian Airlines, British Airways, and Lufthansa. But for intercontinental flights the main gateway airports for Tyrol and Vorarlberg are Munich in Germany and Zurich in Switzerland.

Vorarlberg uses the intercontinental airport of Zurich, 120 km (75 miles) from Bregenz. Directly from the airport several Euro City express trains a day make the journey to Bregenz in 1½ hours on their way to Munich. There are also trains direct from Zurich airport to many stations in Tyrol. Munich is convenient for the eastern part of Tyrol, with rail and coach links.

Airport Transfers

From Innsbruck Flughafen, take the F Line bus into Innsbruck to the main train station (about 20 minutes). Get your ticket (€2) from the driver. Taxis into Innsbruck should take no more than 10 minutes, and the fare is about €15.

From Switzerland to Vorarlberg in winter, there are buses from the Zurich airport Friday, Saturday, and Sunday several times each day for Zürs and Lech. You can book the transfer through the airline Swiss.
